About Brow Lift Surgery
Aging combined with gravity leads to a sagging brow with drooping eyebrows, horizontal creases across the forehead, frown lines (furrows) between the eyebrows, and excess forehead skin that hangs over the eyes. All of this can make a person look older as well as appearing unintentionally tired, sad, or angry. At Charles P. Virden, MD in Reno, Nevada, endoscopic brow lift surgery can restore the youthful position and appearance of the forehead by removing excess skin and tissue. Dr. Charles Virden, a board-certified plastic surgeon, carefully plans each brow lift surgery (also known as browplasty or a forehead lift) to rejuvenate the upper portion of the face and make his patients from the Reno area look more alert, youthful, and happy. Dr. Virden no longer uses the old-style coronal brow lift, which required an incision from ear to ear. The newest technique is called endoscopic brow lift and involves 4 small incisions in the scalp less than 1-inch in length. This technique is also notable in achieving a superior result with no hair loss or distortion of the hair line. A brow lift is an excellent complement to the facelift procedure to provide long-lasting renewal for the entire face.
The best candidates for brow lift surgery:
- Have excess skin creating folds and creases
- Droopy eyelids and eyebrows
- Dynamic wrinkles on their brow
- Want a long-lasting solution
- Do not need a full facelift
Brow Lift Reviews
"The incisions from my first breast augmentation with Dr. Virden were cut with precision, healed perfectly and the scar completely faded!!! Kindest and most efficient medical staff in Reno! Last week I had my latest procedure by Dr. Virden and wanted to leave a little thank you note here on yeIp and was appalled seeing some negative reviews, so I will share my experiences for the last 13 years with Dr. Virden, along with six other individuals to truly give you accurate information rather than reading rants from women who are just genuinely unhappy with themselves- inside and out. THEREFORE...... This is a six star review, because I have been a repeat customer of Dr. Virden's since 2006 and have been so exceedingly pleased that I have referred three affluent families from northern Nevada which all husbands and wives keep going back for Dr. Virden's expert skill in cosmetic surgery. These specific people have the means to see any cosmetic surgeon in the world, including Dr. Gabriel Chiu in Beverly Hills. But, they do not. They keep returning to Dr. Charles Virden. I have personally seen astonishing results of the following: - Facelifts - Brow lifts - Lip enhancement - Neck lifts (removing jowls or that turkey neck) - Breast augmentations - Tummy tucks - Lasers Last week I had my first set of implants, which lasted 13 years, exchanged for the new teardrop or also called gummy bear implants and.......they're MIND BLOWING! Nipple reduction was also preformed and I couldn't be more grateful and pleased with the artwork that went into this modification. Nursing two healthy babies really took a toll on them, but not anymore!!! I now have beautiful nipples of a 20 year old. Thank you Dr. Virden!"- M.S. / Yelp / Apr 29, 2019
What To Expect
Most brow lift surgeries are performed with the patient under general anesthesia as an outpatient surgery at an accredited hospital or surgical center. For brow surgery, small incisions are placed in low visibility areas, such as behind the hairline or in the eyebrows. The most common brow lift techniques are the open brow lift, limited incision brow lift, and endoscopic brow lift, which will be chosen based on the patient's goals and their individual features. Once the incisions are made, the surgeon will remove any excess skin, then smooth and re-position the muscles and soft tissue to smooth wrinkles and lines while elevating the eyebrows to an appropriate level.
Brow lift surgery usually takes about 2 hours and once the patient has been cleared by the doctor, they may be taken home by a responsible adult to recover at home. Most patients take 1 – 3 weeks to recover after a brow lift, but they are generally able to drive and return to work in 2 weeks. For the first days after the surgery, patients should expect some temporary bruising, discomfort, tightness, and numbness. The doctor will talk to each patient about what they need to do during their recovery and provide tips for an easier recovery. Patients will need to return for a follow-up appointment in 1 week to have their sutures removed and so their healing progress can be checked. While visible improvements can be seen immediately, the final results of the brow lift are usually seen about 4 – 6 months after the surgery.

Awake, Alert, Ageless
Many patients fear that a brow lift will leave them looking permanently surprised, unnaturally wide eyed, or like they have obviously had plastic surgery. A plastic surgeon with experience in brow lift surgery will focus on creating a younger, natural-looking appearance that refreshes the face. Using simulation software, the surgeon and patient can decide how dramatic or how subtle they want the results to be. After brow lift surgery, patients will look more awake, more alert, and more like the age they feel.
