We offer male muscle implants to help men achieve a more defined and sculpted physique, but also to correct deformities to your legs and chest caused by a congenital condition or accident.

Male Implants
in Reno, NV

Male muscle implants are silicone prosthetics surgically inserted into your body to enhance the appearance of specific muscle groups. Similar to breast implants for women, these implants are designed to create a more defined and sculpted physique.

There are two types of male implant enhancement procedures Dr. Virden specializes in:

  1. Pectoral augmentation: Pectoral implants are placed under your pectoralis major muscle (chest muscle) to increase chest size and definition.
  2. Calf augmentation: Calf implants are placed on top of your gastrocnemius muscle (calf muscle) to enlarge and improve the appearance of your calves.

Men opt in for muscle implants for a variety of reasons including: to enhance the appearance of chest or calf muscles for a more sculpted physique; to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing body by correcting size discrepancies between your chest or calves and the rest of your body; to address chest or leg asymmetry, or underdevelopment caused by birth defects; or to restore the appearance and function of your chest or calves after an injury.

Dr. Virden uses advanced techniques and high-quality implants to create a natural and proportional look with implants designed for long-lasting results.

Ideal Muscle Implant Candidates

Male muscle implants are a suitable option for men seeking a more defined physique or corrective procedure. Ideal candidates have committed to diet and exercise but haven’t achieved their desired chest or calf definition. They may also desire increased muscle size for a more balanced look, or have congenital conditions or injuries causing asymmetry.

Dr. Virden will assess your age, individual anatomy, skin quality, and overall goals during a consultation to determine if implants are the right choice for you.

What to Expect During Muscle Implant Surgery

During your procedure, you’ll be placed under general anesthesia. Dr. Virden will make precise incisions to create a pocket for the chosen implant and then carefully position the implant for optimal results and a natural look.

  • For calf implants, Dr. Virden makes an incision in the back of your knee and places the implant in a pocket either below the fascia or within your calf muscle.
  • For pectoral implants, Dr. Virden will make an incision in your armpit and the implant is placed under your pectoral muscles and above your ribs.

Dr. Virden then closes the incisions and applies a compression garment.

Muscle Implant Post-Surgical Care and Recovery

While your exact recovery time depends on the implant location (chest or calf), Dr. Virden will provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing. Instructions include pain medication management, wearing compression garments to minimize swelling, and following specific activity restrictions to promote healing.

You can expect swelling and bruising initially, but these side effects subside within a few weeks. The final sculpted results become evident one to three months after surgery as the swelling diminishes and your implants settle into their permanent position.

Muscle Implant FAQs

A muscle implant is a solid silicone prosthetic surgically inserted into your body to enhance the appearance of specific muscle groups, most commonly your chest and calves. Similar to breast implants for women, these silicone implants are designed to create a more defined and sculpted physique.

Implants are designed to be long-lasting and may last up to 20 years. It’s important to regularly follow-up with your doctor.

Muscle implant surgery is considered elective and not covered by insurance. In some cases, if muscle implants are used for reconstruction after an accident or injury, they may be covered by insurance. You should always check with your provider.

Side effects include swelling and bruising which usually improve within a week. You’ll likely experience some discomfort and pain, but this can be managed by medication. Temporary numbness around the implant site is common, but sensation returns over time. The incisions will leave scars, but Dr. Virden works to place these in discreet locations to minimize their appearance.
