BBL Photofacial

Sun damage, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone may leave you wanting a more radiant complexion. BroadBand Light (BBL) therapy offers a non-invasive solution to achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance.

BBL Photofacial in Reno, NV

BBL differs from chemical peels and other lasers in that it utilizes gentle pulses of light to target various skin concerns. We use the safe and advanced Sciton BBL system for our treatments.

This innovative treatment effectively reduces the appearance of sun damage, including age spots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation, promoting a more even skin tone. It can also correct redness caused by rosacea or small vascular lesions for a clearer complexion. BBL therapy even helps diminish the appearance of acne scars to promote a smoother texture, and tackles fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production for a visibly younger look.

With BBL therapy, you can experience a gentle approach to skin rejuvenation with minimal discomfort. Best of all, BBL photofacial results progressively improve over time, promoting a lasting youthful glow.

Ideal BBL Photofacial Candidates

You may be a good candidate for BBL if you have sun damage concerns, like age spots, freckles, or uneven skin tone. If you have redness caused by rosacea, redness caused by small vascular lesions, acne scars, fine lines, or wrinkles, you may also be a good candidate for BBL therapy.

If you think you’re a good candidate, schedule an appointment with our team today.

What to expect during your Photofacial

Your provider will apply a topical numbing cream to minimize discomfort and provide eyewear to protect your eyes from the light pulses. You will apply the numbing cream one hour prior to your appointment.

During your treatment, your provider uses a hand-held laser to deliver controlled pulses of intense, broad-spectrum light to the targeted skin area. By customizing wavelengths, we can address various concerns. For example, shorter wavelengths tackle sun damage and hyperpigmentation near the surface, while longer wavelengths reach deeper to stimulate collagen production for wrinkle reduction.

Once the light penetrates your skin, chromophores—light-absorbing molecules—absorb this energy, converting it into heat within the targeted tissue. This heat then produces the desired effects. For example, for sun damage and hyperpigmentation, the heat damages and breaks down pigmented cells, causing them to rise to the surface and eventually flake off, revealing a more even skin tone.

We’ll personalize the BBL settings based on your unique needs and desired outcome, performing multiple passes with the laser for optimal results. Depending on the size of the area being treated, the procedure can take between 15 and 60 minutes.

BBL Photofacial Aftercare

Following treatment, you may experience redness and warmth, but this will subside within a few hours. As your skin heals, some flaking may occur. It’s important to avoid picking and scratching your skin when this happens.

You’ll be able to return to normal activities the same day, but it’s best to avoid strenuous activity for one to two days. We’ll provide aftercare instructions to optimize results and ensure a healthy recovery.

BroadBand Light Therapy Photofacial FAQs

A photofacial is synonymous with BBL, and is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that uses light pulses to address various skin concerns. It can target sun damage, uneven skin tone, wrinkles, and acne scars. With minimal downtime, photofacials offer a gentle approach to achieving a brighter, more youthful appearance.

A BBL photofacial utilizes pulses of intense broad-spectrum light to target various skin issues. It effectively treats sun damage, uneven skin tone, and signs of aging, like wrinkles. By stimulating collagen production, BBL photofacials promote a smoother, brighter, and more youthful appearance.

While not entirely painless, BBL photofacial is considered to be more comfortable than other laser treatments. Some people describe a warm sensation with the feeling of a rubber band snapping on your skin. Your individual pain tolerance does impact how painful the procedure is.

While generally well-tolerated, BBL photofacial can cause temporary side effects. You might experience redness, warmth, and some flaking after treatment. These typically subside within a few hours to a week.

BBL photofacial results aren’t permanent, but they can be long-lasting. You’ll likely see gradual improvement for weeks or even months as your skin heals and collagen production increases. Using sun protection and having a consistent skincare routine will allow for longer results.

Immediately after your BBL photofacial, you can expect your treated area to feel warm and appear flushed, similar to a sunburn. This redness typically subsides within a few hours. You might also notice some minor swelling, but this should also fade quickly.

BBL photofacial is considered elective and is not covered by insurance.
