Our in-House Lasers
Dr. Virden is proud to offer his clients the latest state-of-the-art laser treatments by Sciton. The JOULE remains the gold standard for ablative skin resurfacing and is used on patients with more severe skin damage. In addition, we also offer the Sciton Halo, which provides outstanding results with minimal downtime. Using the world’s first hybrid fractional laser, our Reno, NV staff uses the Halo laser to deliver both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to target specific microscopic treatment zones on the face and body to provide outstanding surgical-like results without the downtime associated with a surgical procedure.
"His kindness and passion for what he does is beyond what I know as a scrub tech.... I am his patient now and am so excited for what's to come."- A.S. / Facebook / Mar 27, 2021
"I had breast augmentation surgery from Dr. Virden 3 years ago and I could not be happier with the results. He was very thorough in explaining everything I could expect after surgery. To this day people are still impressed with the job he did and how natural my breasts look and feel."- J.L. / Yelp / Mar 18, 2021
"I went to Dr. Virden for plastic surgery on eyes (upper/lower). The doctor and his entire staff were friendly, answered questions professionally, made me feel special and the results are amazing. "In November, 1996 I had my first surgery a tummy tuck, in August of 2002 I had a facelift. Both surgeries went well and I can not thank Dr. Virden for his talent and kindness. I followed his advice, taking care of my skin and avoiding too much sun. I don't won't to brag but I looked 20 plus years younger and recovered quickly and felt great within days after the surgery, I went back on tour singing within 2 weeks. Now 24 years later I still look 20 years younger with exception to a little sagging under the eyes. I'm in great shape for 78 years old but again you would never know it. I feel great get plenty of exercise a good diet but would like to eliminate the need for friends to say I need to get more sleep, I look great but need to get more sleep. So I'm looking forward to visiting Doctor Virden again for a little surgery that will stop there worry. When you feel that confident about a Special Doctor you want to share your gratitude to others."- Anonymous / RateMDs / Feb 09, 2021
"Knowledgeable and compassionate, always available. He removed my 23yr old implants leaving my natural breast spectacular. Dr. Virden assured me that I didn't need a lift, and he was correct. I couldn't be happier with my results and his whole team. They all treated me like family through the whole process and this is very important to me. I would never go anywhere else!"- V.R. / Facebook / Dec 27, 2020
Patients who will get the most benefit out of laser skin resurfacing will want to:
- Reduce or remove facial wrinkles, creases, and lines
- Improve sun-damaged skin
- Correct pigmentation problems and spots
- Treat scars from acne, birthmarks, moles, and tattoos
- Tighten skin that has lost elasticity due to aging
What to Expect
Laser skin resurfacing can be performed in the office with no downtime. Avoiding the sun after this procedure is critical and patients should get 5 – 8 treatments for best results. Generally, post-treatment instructions call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up healing and shorten recovery time. Ointment is applied to the affected area immediately following surgery to aid with the healing process, minimize swelling, and control the risk of infection. The skin will be red and ooze for about 7 – 10 days; however, there is little discomfort with the laser resurfacing process. Any pain associated with the surgery can be treated with oral medication. While complications are rare, patients can minimize potential problems by carefully following the post treatment instructions. Recovery time varies with the extent of the resurfacing and the number of areas treated.
Usually the first week after the treatment is labor intensive. Patients are advised to wash the lasered areas regularly every few hours to facilitate healing. At about 7 – 10 days, the beautiful new skin appears and the healing process gets much easier. At this point, mineral make-up and moisturizers can be applied to the skin. A pink tint or red color to the skin is normal for about 3 weeks – 3 months. This coloring is caused by blood vessels that are laying down “new” collagen. A reduction in the appearance of wrinkles will take approximately 3 months.
